AEC CAD Standard
NetSPEX and NetSPEX DWS Online are delivered with the AEC CAD Standard, a completely preconfigured CAD standard for AutoCAD and MicroStation with all of the resources necessary to place and manage drawing components. The AEC CAD Standard is our interpretation of the US Army Corps of Engineers CAD/BIM Technology Center's (this site may have an outdated certificate) A/E/C CAD Standard.
Included in the AEC CAD Standard are CAD resources — blocks/cells, line types/line styles, templates/seed files, etc. — that are necessary to conform to the standard. Users can choose to use the standard as delivered with NetSPEX or modify it to fit their specific design needs.
What Does the Standard Look Like?
The AEC CAD Standard, as defined for NetSPEX, contains predefined components and layers organized into disciplines, drawing types and component groups for easy standards management by the CAD manager and placement by the CAD user. The standard contains:
- 14 Disciplines (Architectural, Civil, Mechanical, etc.)
- 109 Drawing Types (Floor Plan, Site Plan, Survey and Mapping Plan, etc.)
- 1782 Annotation Components (Text, Labels, etc.)
- 1196 Dimension Components (Native MicroStation and AutoCAD Pattern Elements)
- 1667 Pattern Components (Hatching, Cross Hatching, Custom Area Patterns, etc.)
- 6281 Symbol Components (Doors, Windows, Drainage, Cells/Blocks, etc.)
- 3894 Linear Components (Pipes, Edge of Pavement, Walls, etc.)
- 5207 Layers/Levels
