Enterprise Deployment

One of the key features of NetSPEX is its ability to distribute CAD standards throughout an organization, including remote design partners. A single, centrally located database can either be replicated to other offices or accessed directly through Internet or WAN connections, thereby eliminating the data redundancy problems that are so common to locally-installed, CAD-based solutions.

Removing the standards information from the CAD software and placing it in a central repository where it can be readily accessed and easily maintained eliminates many additional administrative issues and costs. The NetSPEX standards database can store standards for AutoCAD and MicroStation.

NetSPEX Enterprise Deployment

This unique data-sharing model ensures timely delivery of the most current CAD standards. In a mirrored server configuration, NetSPEX allows administrators to set up data replication channels between servers. For example, a central standards server can be set up as a repository for CAD standards data. At periodic intervals determined by the CAD standards administrator, configurations, resources, and components can be pushed to mirror servers at other locations. Alternatively, smaller offices may choose to connect directly to the central server for access to standards-compliant drawing components.

Once the component data is cached to the individual user workstation, connection to the server becomes unnecessary unless changes are made to the CAD standards. If changes have been made, NetSPEX automatically determines whether or not the cached information is current, and then updates only the non-current components.
