Multiple Standards Support
Many organizations are faced with the task of managing multiple divisional, department, discipline or client standards. NetSPEX has been designed from the ground up to allow for seamless storage of multiple CAD standards that can be administered from the same standards database. Users can access a CAD standard when creating a drawing simply by launching AutoCAD or MicroStation through the appropriate desktop shortcut.
NetSPEX organizes standards into what are called standards sets. A standards set includes all of the disciplines, drawing types, drawing components, layers, and custom menu definitions required to perform design work using a specific CAD standard. Each standards set can be displayed in a hierarchical structure within its own Standards Explorer window in NetSPEX Administrator. This interface allows an administrator – with appropriate access rights – to compare standards against one another, drag and drop drawing type or component information from one standard to another, update standards, develop menus, and perform many other standards related tasks. NetSPEX also supports a feature called standards dependency, which can be used to establish parent–child relationships between standards.
NetSPEX also includes our complete interpretation of the AEC CAD Standard, developed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers CAD/BIM Technology Center. The AEC CAD Standard contains 14 predefined disciplines, over 100 drawing types, thousands of layer definitions, drawing components, and CAD resources for AutoCAD and MicroStation.
