Intelligent Resource Loading

Through a feature called file branding, NetSPEX detects the discipline and drawing type that is loaded in MicroStation or AutoCAD, then loads only the resources that are applicable to that particular drawing type and discipline. For example, if the drawing is branded as a civil grading plan, then the civil grading plan drawing resources are loaded automatically. This approach prevents users from having to sift through long lists of drawing resources to find appropriate design components and layers.

When files are branded, the system stores information about the CAD standard, discipline, drawing type, and default drawing scale. NetSPEX Designer uses this information to load appropriate drawing components and determine the necessary scaling factors. In addition, NetSPEX can be set up to load a pull-down menu with drawing type-specific utilities and components. The pull-down menu structure is defined in NetSPEX Administrator and stored in the CAD Standards database.
